Essentials to Add to Your Colorado Packing List
Are you planning a trip to visit Colorado? Whether it’s a weekend getaway or an extended vacation, there are Colorado essentials you’ll need to take with you because of the high altitude and semi-arid climate. Here are 4 travel essentials you need on your packing list no matter the season when you come visit Colorado!
I can’t stress enough about getting plenty of water when you come visit here and having a great water bottle will make it easier to remember to drink plenty of fluids. You don’t want to spend your time in Colorado being sick instead of enjoying the incredible beauty that Colorado has to offer. This water bottle is great because it keeps the water temp constant, which for me, means I am more likely to drink it – warm water on a hike is not awesome!
Something that surprised us when we moved to Texas was that it doesn’t really cool down in the evenings or in the mornings-we were used to mountain climates! In Colorado, it doesn’t really matter what season it is, it cools down to some extent in the evenings and the mornings definitely can be a little chilly. I like to be prepared with a lightweight sweatshirt so that if I am out to dinner and we get done, I’m not chilly or if I want to enjoy my morning coffee outside, I can without being cold.
I think hiking sandals are great, easy to throw in your suitcase without taking up too much room or weight and be ready for any adventure while you are in Colorado. These are great because you can hike where ever in them, they have great grip and are fast drying if you get them wet. I think they can be better than hiking shoes because they are more cooling on your feet and lighter on your feet, hopefully making it a little easier to maneuver around on the trail. I mean, if your from Colorado, chances are you have hiked in flip flops but these are definitely a sturdier choice to experience the trails.
With around 300 days of sun a year, it doesn’t matter what season it is, chances are it’s going to be bright outside! This is especially true if there is snow on the ground. The weather changes so fast here that rarely do you have two consecutive days that are overcast or stormy, there will probably be bright shining sun for most of your trip and the sunshine is bright! Be prepared and don’t burn your eyes while your are in Colorado!
Colorado has a unique climate and being prepared while you visit can help you have an even more fabulous vacation! Hopefully these 4 travel essentials will help make your trip less stressful so you can fully enjoy all of the wonderful things Colorado has to offer.
